Has the world really come to the point, when the average human being only thinks of themselves? If so, then I don't want to live on this so called "earth" anymore.
People talk of world peace, and prosperity of all. Well I say bullshit! Pigs will fly when there is world peace, and everyone can live side by side in equal harmony.
That is just a bunch of bull crap that modern media has thrown together for kids to fall for. Well sorry to break the news to you, but the world sucks!
It doesn't get any better as you get older either. A word of advice, watch out for yourself, and only yourself.
People are like stained glass windows. When the sun goes down, their true self is revealed.
That person doesn't usually end up in the nice smiling fairy tale that we were all promised as children.
Its almost like the story about the frog and the scorpion.
The scorpion asks the frog for a ride across the lake. The frog, being smart, says "no, you will sting me and I will die."
The scorpion replies "no, I promise not to sting you."
So the frog believes the scorpion and takes him across the river. Once across, the scorpion stings the frog. With its last dying breathes, the frog asks why?
The scorpion replies "because its in my nature."
Well is it all in our nature to conform to main stream ideals of how to believe in everyone, and to love everyone?
I say no! Stand up for yourself and become self sufficient. Depend on no one, and believe you are great, because one day you will be in the same situation as the frog and the scorpion, and you better wish that you are the scorpion.

Yet another blog post to add in. This one will give a brief summary about leads.
But what would be considered a good lead?
Well that is one right there. A question can always count as a good lead in. It grabs the readers attention. Makes them think, and focus in on the article, so that they can quench their thirst for knowledge.
The sort of knowledge that makes you think about the recent GOP candidates, and how Romney is slowly losing foothold on American soil, and returning back to being a nobody.
See right there, is another example of a lead-in. An allusion, which is a reference to some sort of literature work or in my example the GOP candidates.
Dialogue is yet another example of lead in, but I don’t really know what to say to that since it’s a little bit more difficult for me to do.
Personally, I enjoy leading in with an interesting question, since it has the ability to draw your readers in.
Week four in my new journalism class. Well I guess it wouldn’t be considered new. But that isn’t the point of this post.
The point of this post, is to discuss what I have learned this week. Which basically revolves around four different court cases.
The first one, Tinker vs. Moines, was an attempt to protest the Vietnam war, but when the school caught wind of it, they quickly blew out the flames.
The supreme court took the case up, and proved that the high school students had a right to express their beliefs on the Vietnam war. Good or bad.
The second court case, Bethel vs. Fraser, basically dealt with a high school student who gave a speech, filled with sexual innuendos. Which was later proved that Mathew Fraser, the student who gave the speech, had no right to do such a thing, since he was at a school function.
But the point I am trying to prove here, is a fact of matter that one of my friends brought up.
When we were discussing the case, she rudely interrupted me and pointed out the fact that the supreme court didn’t take "silly cases like that."
The first part that was wrong with her argument, is that the supreme courts DID take the case. Not, they were thinking about, or no, they took the case!
The second question, after I rendered speechless, was why the supreme court would take the case?
I believe it was because of the fact that school speeches or newspapers were not regulated before hand. So once Mathew Fraser brought about his double meaning speech, it brought about the beginning of censorship.
This case was ethically wrong, since some people aren’t exposed to the amount of sexual meaning, like Mathew Fraser was.
But besides the Bethel vs. Fraser case, the Hazelwood vs. Kuhlmier, was the final tipping point, where schools could veto certain articles in a newspaper, based on a few words written by a high school student.
Administrators' were now given the right to view before publication, and limited our freedom of expression.
This all led to a question asked in class. How can you limit expression?
My answer, is that you cant. Unless you clip the vocal cords of everyone, the you can never limit expression. People have the right to say and do whatever they want, as long as it stays in line with the law. But how do you decide what is right and wrong?

Why does the general population find excitement in gossiping?
Think about it. From the news, to newspaper, to the radio, even to simple conversations between friends, gossiping has infiltrated our lives.
Gossiping has even begun to reach the newsroom. The recent controversies with Newt Gingrich, and Herman Cain, show how the general public base all opinion on petty gossip that they over hear on media centers.
Herman Cain, a man who was running for the GOP, but dropped out due to sexual scandals with coworkers, made the conscious decision to leave the candidacy, because he didn't want his private life to become public.
But Herman Cain isn't the only one who faces the prying eye of the public.
Think back to any recent magazine that you have read. For example, Kim Kardashian was married for 72 days, and instead of being left alone, trying to get over her divorce, everyone insulted her and began to talk about her recent escapades.
Why does modern society find joy in the horrible act of peaking behind the private curtain of someones' life?
Is it for entertainment purposes?
Are people really that bored with their own personal lives, that they have to pry into the life of another?
There may never be an answer to any of these questions, because gossiping is a look into a someones'
life. A chance to forget your own problems, and focus on something that seem substantially worse than your own
But does that make it condonable?
My answer is no. Mostly because I have been on the other side of the gossiping. It hurts.
But whenever you talk about someone else, think to yourself, "what if that was me?"

Starting writing for publications this week, was an interesting transition from creative writing. It is definetly more work, then the simple layed back class of Mrs.Lanning, but I accept the challenge. This week, the 4 day week, was mostly focused on media and different types there are. For example, TV, radio, and billboards. The rest of the 2 to 3 days, was spent discussing columns. To what I understand, my blog will basically be a collection of columns. Which I am actually looking foward to, since it's a change of writing. From the descriptive and advanced creative writing, to the 8th grade level of writing and reporting on modern day issues. This blog is going to be an adventure of its own, since you can never go wrong with how you feel about an interesting news article. Thats the difference between Subjunctive writing and Objective writing. Subjunctive writing is basically false information, and is chalked full of my own personal opinion. But with objective writing, its all based on facts, and holds no opinion, since most of the article is quotes.
My blog will, this is a guess and I could possibly be wrong, subjunctive writing, with an occasional news report on a recent debate. I believe that this blog will be something that no one every really sees, but I will continue to write, not only for the class but also for my own personal growth as a writer. Who knows, this simple blog could turn into something big.
